For Rejection Sensitivity
Create “perception checks.” Before assuming rejection, explicitly ask. “I’m noticing I feel anxious about your response—can you help me understand what you meant?” This isn’t excessive reassurance-seeking; it’s compensating for a brain that reads social signals through a distorted lens.
Name it when it’s happening. Simply saying “this is RSD” can create enough distance from the emotion to prevent spiral. The feeling is real, but recognizing its source as neurological rather than interpersonal changes how much you need to act on it.
Build a delay buffer. When you feel the rejection hit, commit to waiting 24 hours before taking action. The ADHD brain returns to baseline quickly—what feels devastating now often feels manageable tomorrow.

That doesn’t mean you’re stuck with debilitating anxiety forever. But it does mean that effective treatment requires understanding what’s actually generating the anxiety rather than treating surface symptoms. When you address the underlying ADHD features, the anxiety often improves—not because you learned to relax harder, but because you reduced the conditions that were activating your nervous system in the first place.
